BART HUSCHER (PHOTOGRAPHER)
I was lucky to learn early in life that “if you love what you do you’ll never work a day in your life”. I haven’t “worked” in a VERY long time.
My passion for photography truly ignited while I was stationed in Great Britain with the U.S. Air Force. After returning to the States, I went professional, beginning as an apprentice with a nationally renowned high school senior photographer. That experience led to an internship with a celebrity photographer—who also happened to be President Ronald Reagan’s inaugural photographer. Before launching my own studio, I spent five years as a photography instructor for a national portrait studio chain.
Originally from Kansas and Iowa, I’ve also called the U.K., Texas, Wyoming, and Colorado home. I eventually settled in Springfield in 1987, and five years later, my wife Wendy and I started About Faces together.
My photographic style focuses on using expert posing and lighting to flatter each subject. But more than anything, I love connecting with people so their true personality shines through in every image.
When I’m not behind the camera, you might find me out on our property doing yard work to maintain what we affectionately call our “portrait park”—a landscaped space designed to give our clients a beautiful and unique outdoor photo experience.
I have been married to my best friend, Wendy, for 34 years. We have 2 boys (Austin & Alex), 2 daughter-laws (Taylor & Cheyenne) and a granddaughter (Palmer) and we are excitedly awaiting a new grandson.
And no bio of mine would be complete without mentioning our German Shepherds—Ellie, Bear, and Tango—who are numbers 8, 9, and 10 in our long line of shepherd companions. They’re more than pets… they’re family.

Meet Wendy – The Photographer’s Wife (and So Much More!)
Hi, I’m Wendy—often known around here as “the photographer’s wife,” but I wear many hats at our studio. I grew up in the small town of Red Oak, Iowa, and moved to Springfield to attend Evangel University, where I earned a degree in accounting. After college, I started my career at Noble & Associates, a local advertising agency—but life had other creative plans in store.
Shortly after, I met Bart, we got married, and together we started this studio. Since then, it’s been an incredible journey—filled with family, photography, and plenty of adventures (including raising two energetic boys who always kept things interesting).
At the studio, I’m involved in just about everything: assisting Bart in the camera room, editing photos, taking customer orders, handling the not-so-glamorous bookkeeping, and even answering the phone. One of my favorite roles is sitting down with clients and helping them choose the perfect portraits to display in their homes. You might also find me framing pictures, building new sets, or—when spring rolls around—digging in the flowerbeds to create fresh outdoor backdrops.
What I love most is the chance to work alongside my husband and run our studio just steps away from our home. It’s a lifestyle that has allowed me to be there for our boys, whether they were coming home from school or showing off the biggest frog they had ever caught.
Though my background is in accounting, my heart has always been with photography. Even as a child, I understood the value of capturing life’s moments. To me, photography is more than just pictures—it’s about preserving memories and telling stories that last a lifetime.
AUSTIN & ALEX HUSCHER
Our boys have both worked with us over the years, but they’ve since moved on to pursue their own paths. Austin is now working at Paul Mueller, and Alex has started his own landscaping business, ALX Lawn Care. Alex also went to school and earned a degree in photography—he’s a talented photographer, and who knows, maybe someday he’ll come back to it.
ALEX HUSCHER (PHOTOGRAPHER)
I have been around the photography business my entire life! I grew up assisting my dad on sessions, helping build sets and backgrounds, and even taking pictures. Since I grew up living next door to our studio, my brother and I would memorize our dad's schedule everyday so that we wouldn't be outside shooting BB guns or doing something stupid when my dad was photographing someone outside.
I got my Associates Degree in Photography in 2018. I learned a lot from those classes, but nothing can beat the knowledge that I get from working side by side with my dad...his lighting and posing skills are amazing!
In 2020, when things got crazy and the government shut our business down, I expanded my "side gig" of mowing yards. I still love to take photos, and I help dad now and then on a project, but for now anyway, you will find me out and about on a lawn mower...ALX Lawn Care.
