Bart Huscher  • Photographer

I was lucky to learn early on that “If you love what you do you’ll never work a day in your life”. I haven’t “worked” in over 25 years (of course I started as a photographer when I was 10 LOL).

My interest in photography began when I was stationed in the Great Britain with the U.S. Air Force. I turned professional as an apprentice with a photographer who was nationally known for his high school senior photography. That lead to an internship with a celebrity photographer, who was also President Ronald Reagan’s Inaugural photographer. Before starting my own studio I spent 5 years as a photography instructor for a national portrait studio chain.

I grew up in Kansas & Iowa, but have also lived in the U.K., Texas, Wyoming & Colorado. I settled in Springfield in 1987 and my Wife and I started About Faces 4 years later.

My style of photography uses posing & lighting to flatter my subjects, but what I love most is connecting with my clients so their personality shows in the images I create for them. I also run our in house photo lab and digital press (We also print books, brochures, postcards, flyers and booster club programs).

I have been married to my best friend Wendy for 21 years. We have 2 boys Austin & Alex, 2 German Shepherds, 2 birds and a bi-polar cat. My favorite place in the world is on the lake at sunrise fishing with my 2 sons.

Wendy Huscher • “The Photographers Wife”

Hi, I’m Wendy, frequently known as “the photographer’s wife”. I’m originally from a small town in Iowa and I came to Springfield to go to Evangel University. I graduated from there with a degree in accounting. I then went to work for Noble & Associates, a local advertising agency. Shortly after that, Bart and I met, got married and started the studio. We are blessed with two teenage boys who always keep our life interesting.

I’m not exactly sure what my position is at the studio, I do whatever needs to be done, but my primary responsibilities are taking customer orders, photographing children, and of course, the dreaded book work.

Children’s photography is my favorite thing I do, however, I really enjoy sitting down with clients and helping them choose which portraits to order. You may also see me answering the phone, showing proofs, assisting Bart in the camera room, framing pictures or building new sets. If you stop by in the spring, you will usually find me digging in the dirt planting tons of flowers to use in pictures.

I feel very fortunate to be able to make a living working side by side with my husband and living on the same property as our business. I love being just a few steps away from our home, so even though I’m at work, I can still see our boys when they get home from school or when they catch the biggest frog ever 🙂

Even though my education is in accounting, I have always treasured photographs. Even as a child I saw the value in documenting events and stages of life with pictures. Making memories is what life is about, and documenting and displaying them with photography is what keeps those memories alive.

Amy Ricklefs • Graphic Designer4

I am very excited to be a graphic designer at About Faces Photography. I spent several years debating whether or not I would be able to make it as a designer, but once I started taking design classes at Ozarks Technical Community College, all my doubts were gone. Graphic Design is what I am suppose to do. I love it!

My passion for design is rewarded with knowing I have created something that other people will cherish for years to come. I take pride in my work and hope to communicate specific ideas while giving others something awesome to look at. At About Faces, I am the one who will make sure every photograph is digitally adjusted to have incredible color, depth and a variety of unique effects before you even see them.

As much as I enjoy being a designer, I do have another part to my life outside of Adobe Photoshop. My husband, Justin, and I have been married for 6 years. We are both career driven, but we enjoy our down time as well and don’t know what we would do without our DVR! The only children we have right now are of the canine and feline species, but we are excited (and terrified) about what the future holds.
